The Bad News
A private YouTube channel may sound like an effective solution for sharing content exclusively with specific individuals, customers or employees. Unfortunately, YouTube does not provide the tools that would make this possible.
The Good News
There is a workaround, although it requires slightly more work for the channel owner. It’s possible to populate a public channel with entirely private videos. As long as the owner ensures that all of their videos are all listed as “private”, it will, in effect, be a completely private channel.
How to Make a Video ‘Private’ (On a PC)
- Log in to YouTube Studio
- Click on the ‘Channel Videos’ tab (the second icon down on the left).
- Click on the ‘Visibility’ drop-down menu of your chosen video.
- Select ‘Private’
Following that process for every video is the only way channel owners can make their content 100% private.
