For the average person, buying an island is something you can only dream of, but this is just another day for Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson.
The Three-Part Series
On August 13, 2020, MrBeast divulged his craziest prize yet, giving away a private island. He spent one million dollars on scratch off tickets and went through every single one hoping he would hit big. He had ten volunteers help to scratch off 120,000 tickets that he purchased and promised them $7,000 each for their help. He ended up winning around $720,000 from the lottery tickets. With the winnings he purchased, you guessed it, an island. In this three-part video series, MrBeast takes his viewers through the process of scratching off the lottery tickets, purchasing the island and the competition to win the island.
Where Does all This Money Come From
It’s no secret that MrBeast has more money than he knows what to do with. You might be wondering where all of this money comes from. See here to find out more.
In his videos he revealed that the island that he purchased ended up costing him $730,000. In the second video he shows a short clip of him with a document and shaking hands with a businessman showing he bought the island. But this may not be enough proof for some of you.
Finding a Witness
I called John Christie on September 30, 2020 at 2:12pm EST, the real estate agent for Golding Cay and asked him if MrBeast actually purchased the island or if he rented it for the videos. Mr. Christie responded bluntly, “I am not commenting on that.”
The island is located in the Bahamas and is called The Golding Cay. It is located north of Russel Island which is easily reached from Nassau and the Spanish Wells. To reach the island which MrBeast and friends renamed “Jeff” in the second video, it takes a ten-minute boat ride from the fishing village of Spanish Wells.
After much more research and island shopping, every single website that the island is listed on still shows that the island is available to purchase and looks as though it has been for a long time. The island does not show up as a “new listing” on any website. In this video, Chandler Hallow who won the island in the challenge, claims he sold it shortly after winning it. This does seem at odds if the island is indeed for sale currently and possibly has been for a while.
Draw Your Own Conclusion
In the last video of the three-part series, MrBeast puts the ten volunteers through a series of ten challenges and the last person to leave keeps the island. At the end of the video, we see the winner and are told that the island is now theirs, but there is a lack of evidence. So, did MrBeast actually give away an island? You will have to decide for yourself.
