Previously, any video that was over 10 minutes long was eligible to be monetized by the creator for midstream ads, but as of July 2020, the platform has reduced that to eight minutes, opening the option out to even more creators. Although a difference of two minutes might not seem like much, in the world of content, it is a huge difference and has enabled even more channels to add advertisements to their videos, seeing a significant rise in the number of videos that non-Premium viewers are seeing.
